Metropolitan Police confirmed a 41-year-old woman and her children – a 15-year-old girl, and two boys aged eight and four – tragically died in a house fire in Brent, London

Horror footage shows the devastating blaze in Brent that killed a mother and her three children. Emergency services were called to the house fire in Tillett Close, Stonebridge, north-west London, at around 1.20am, where they tragically found a 43-year-old woman, a 15-year-old girl, and two boys aged eight and four.

Another woman in her 70s and a teenage girl, both from the same family, were also taken to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Their condition is unknown. A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and remains in custody, according to the Metropolitan Police. The force initially believed the three children who died were all boys but later issued fresh information.

Metropolitan Police Superintendent Steve Allen confirmed in a statement on Saturday afternoon that the woman who died was the mum of the three children.

Horrifying footage shows the blaze ripping apart the house, as firefighters spent more than two hours trying to put out the fire, the cause of which remains unknown. Two terraced three-storey homes were also damaged in the fire.

The aftermath shows all floors of two adjacent terraced houses have been gutted by the fire. Inside it is a mess of soot and peeling wallpaper, including the remains of charred furniture.

London Fire Brigade said: “The Brigade received the first of over 20 calls reporting the fire at 0113, and crews from Wembley, Park Royal, Willesden and surrounding fire stations were mobilised to the scene. Crews were able to bring the fire under control by 0324.

Mohamed Labidi, a 38-year-old teacher who lives on Tillett Close, said he ‘can’t even look at the house’ which was gutted in a fire.

He said he made the first call to the fire brigade in the early hours of the morning. The teacher said he knew the woman, and that the four who died in the fire were ‘really good people’.

“We used to socialise together,” he said. “I can’t even look at the house right now.”

Mayor of London Sir Sadiq Khan described the news of the fire where four people died as “devastating”.

He wrote in a post on X: “This is devastating news and my thoughts are with the family, friends and wider community of the four people who sadly have lost their lives.

“I remain in close contact with the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police as they work to establish the cause of the fire and offer support to all those impacted.

Police have confirmed that a 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the deaths of four people in a fire.

“A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and remains in custody,” said a police statement, and now a spokesman has added that the “suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder”.
